Former national security adviser John Bolton calls Pres. Trump’s alleged pursuit of personal over national interest “disturbing.”

Image
Co-host Sunny Hostin directly tackled the question of Trump's alleged quid pro quo with Ukraine, the subject of his impeachment trial. "It is your understanding then that President Trump wanted information on the Bidens, and on the Clintons in return for unfreezing the aid?" Hostin said. "Precisely," Bolton replied. Although Bolton has said he will not for Trump, as he did in 2016, he said he won't for the presumptive Democratic nominee former Vice President Joe Biden either, opting, instead, to write in a conservative name he hasn't yet determined. "I have to be true to my philosophical convictions as well," Bolton said. "The good news I can give to you is that I was born and raised in Maryland. I live in Maryland today. I'm a registered voter there. Joe Biden's going to carry Maryland no matter what I do." The House ultimately impeached Trump along partisan lines but the GOP-led Senate declined to convict Tru...

Former GOP candidate Carly Fiorina says she'll vote for Biden and she’s also disappointed in Ted Cruz supporting Trump

Image
Former 2016 Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina says she'll support Joe Biden over President Donald Trump in the 2020 election, calling the presumptive Democratic standard-bearer a person of "humility" and "character." "I've been very clear that I can't support Donald Trump. And, you know, elections are binary choices. I will say this: I think, I hope, that Biden understands that this moment in history calls for him to be a leader, not a politician," Fiorina told The Atlantic's podcast The Ticket in an interview released Thursday. Pressed whether that meant she would vote for Biden in the general election, Fiorina replied, "Well, it's not 'til November is it? I'm not voting for Trump ... it's a binary choice. So if faced with a binary choice on a ballot, yes." Fiorina is one of several Republicans who have recently said they won't vote for Trump in November. Trump's former natio...

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says Republicans 'trying to get away with murder' of George Floyd

Image
Nancy Pelosi  asserted in an interview Tuesday that Republicans are "trying to get away with murder, actually -- the murder of George Floyd" -- marking a dramatic escalation in rhetoric as the Democrat-controlled House prepares to pass its police reform package. Pelosi, D-Calif., speaking to CBS News Radio correspondent Steve Futterman, said Senate Republicans' reform proposals in the wake of Floyd's in-custody death in Minneapolis were "unsalvageable" and won't make "any difference." Specifically, Pelosi said Democrats want a total ban on chokeholds, which Attorney General William Barr has also suggested he would support. But, Pelosi said, some Republicans are waffling on the issue. "For something to happen, they're going to have to face the realities of police brutalities, the realities of the need for justice in policing, and the recognition that there's many good people in law enforcement, but not all. And that we ...

MSNBC’s Morning Joe says President Trump doesn’t appear to want to win reelection

Image
Is Trump someone who wants to win re-election? “This does not look like a man who wants to win, who wants to be reelected,” Scarborough said, pointing to recent controversies such as Trump reportedly seeking China’s help and comments made about slowing down COVID-19 testing. “Time and time again, this guy, every day, acts like he doesn’t want to get reelected. He undercuts his aides who are trying to cover up for previous mistakes that he’s making, and the situation just keeps getting worse,” Scarborough said.  “You have to ask yourself, ‘Why is a guy who is down 10 points, 12 points, 14 points — why doesn’t he adjust?'” The MSNBC host then said Trump is “incapable” of adjusting, but at least knew “when to keep quiet” back in 2016. “Morning Joe” played a clip of Trump telling reporters on Tuesday that he wasn’t joking when it comes to slowing down coronavirus testing and that America has the best tests in the wo...

Andy McCarthy calls firing of US Attorney Geoffrey Berman 'much ado about nothing'

Image
In an interview on  "America's Newsroom"  with host Ed Henry, the Fox News contributor pointed out that Berman was simply an interim attorney "essentially keeping the seat warm" until a fully-appointed U.S. attorney was put in place. McCarthy explained that with the leadership and senators -- who have an impact on the confirmation process -- in the state of New York being Democrats, the challenge for  President Trump  has been to try to get his own people confirmed who will work with the  Democrats in Congress . "And, obviously, of lot of that [has] broken down," he noted. According to McCarthy, Berman wasn’t even a permanent full-fledged confirmed US attorney, he was just an interim US attorney. McCarthy says he was essentially keeping the seat warm until they got a full, appointed US attorney there. The Trump administration is moving to put SEC Chairman Clayton in Berman’s role, to appoint to him to the position. McCarthy notes that ...

President Trump hints at 'generous' second coronavirus stimulus check. Here's how much you could get

President Trump was asked directly in an interview on Scripps TV Monday morning whether he had ordered his staff to slow testing, which had drawn sharp criticism from health experts. Pausing before answering, the president did not directly answer or use the exchange as an opportunity to say he had just been joking, as McEnany now says. VIDEO: Just asked President Trump if he actually ordered testing to be slowed down. He said in his Saturday speech he did. He didn't answer the direct question. We've done too good a job, because every time we go out with 25 million tests, you're gonna find more people,” Trump said in the interview. Vice President Pence on Monday defended the comments as a “passing observation” when Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak told him during ...

The View co-host Joy Behar says she and her husband drive around looking for people not wearing masks

Joy Behar  revealed on Tuesday that she regularly spends time looking at people who are walking around without masks during the  coronavirus pandemic . "I don't have much faith that this is going to end anytime soon ... Barring a vaccine, all we have is social distancing and masks -- neither of which is happening in this country right now ... this is going to go on and on and on, and I'll tell you the truth, it's making me crazy," she said. "All I do is I get in my car maybe with Steve and we go around town looking for people who are not wearing masks," she added, referring to her husband. Behar's comments touched on growing concerns that social distancing guidelines were being abused by some as a justification for surveilling fellow Americans. While mask requirements vary by state, the federal government has not mandated that citizens wear facial coverings in public. "The View"  was discussing  President Trump's  sugg...
