Dividing the nation, one bean at a time ... As the CEO of Goya publicly praises President Trump, Americans are unable to come to the table and agree on a response. "We are all truly blessed ... to have a leader like President Trump who is a builder," Unanue said during the Rose Garden speech. "We have an incredible builder, and we pray. We pray for our leadership, our president." On Friday,  Sen. Ted Cruz  tweeted: "Goya is a staple of Cuban food. My grandparents ate Goya black beans twice a day for nearly 90 years. And now the Left is trying to cancel Hispanic culture and silence free speech.  #BuyGoya " President Trump similarly tweeted "I

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez argue the phrase shouldn’t be taken literally and represents police reforms

Image
Rep.  Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez  weighed in Tuesday on the proposed New York City budget cuts to the police department she said don't go far enough, saying “defunding police means defunding police.” “Defunding police means defunding police. It does not mean budget tricks or funny math. It does not mean moving school police officers from the NYPD budget to the Department of Education’s budget so the exact same police remain in schools,” the congresswoman said in a statement. Some argue the phrase shouldn’t be taken literally and just stands to represent police reforms. “It does not mean counting overtime cuts as cuts, even as NYPD ignores every attempt by City Council to curb overtime spending and overspend

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed the Trump campaign had been scammed by teenage anti-Trump activist

Image
News outlets would probably have dismissed as conspiracy theory the notion that people – liberal wackos, American teenagers, KPop fans, and even foreigners – gamed the Trump Tulsa rally by reserving tickets that they had no intention of using in order to deliberately drive down the attendance and crowd size, had it been Trump who brought it up. But Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez not only admits that it happened, she’s THRILLED about it. In tweets on Saturday she directly taunted Trump about it and praised those who did it. “Actually you just got ROCKED by teens on TikTok,” the New York Democrat wrote in response to a Twitter message by Trump 2020 Campaign chief Brad Parscale, who argued that “Radical protestors” in Tulsa had prevented some of the president’s supporters from entering the BOK Center, where the rally was held. Actually you just got ROCKED by teens on TikTok who flooded the Trump campaign w/ fake ticket reservations & tricked you into believing a million people

Ocasio-Cortez told : “I’m a Democrat, I’m proud to be on this team. I’m proud to be part of the Democratic majority,”

Image
Ocasio-Cortez said there's a “distinct possibility” she'll be backing more primary challengers, though she said of the two groups: “I don’t anticipate our endorsements will overlap 100 percent." Because the majority of congressional districts are drawn to be solidly Democratic or solidly Republican, the one chance for competition comes in a primary race, she said. "Seventy percent of Americans live in a safe blue seat, or a safe red seat, which means the only choice that they have realistically is in their primary election," she said. "The idea that we should take democracy away from people is one that I fundamentally disagree with.” By pressing for more primaries nationwide, Ocasio-Cortez said she understands that she’ll be at risk for Democratic challengers, too. "I'm comfortable with that," she said. “I want to earn my seat every two years. I want to earn the right to have this job.” You might compare AOC to Jim DeMint, in that

Do Democrats really want Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to be the face of their party?

The freshman congresswoman finds herself at the center of two new controversies; Wendy Osefo, Democratic political analyst, and Republican New York City Councilman Joe Borelli join the debate. She’s only been a congresswoman for less than four months, but AOC’s constituents are already starting to turn against her. I think they are beginning to figure out that she’s more interested in all the media attention she’s getting than she is helping the very people that voted for her. Here’s more from the NY Post: Amid her zeal to save the world with the Green New Deal, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has ignored residents in her own Bronx back yard. “I thought AOC would be our savior, but that’s not the case,” complained Roxanne Delgado, a local activist who said she has tried for months to get in touch with the congresswoman for help saving an animal shelter and to clean up parks in the district. Delgado, 40, says she has made numerous calls to Ocasio-Cortez’s offices in Washi

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on what makes her different from Trump

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on why her movement is not the “Tea Party of the left,” but rather a “return to American representative democracy.” For many Americans, it's easier to believe that Russia — not American voters — installed Trump as president. On Sunday, Attorney General Barr released his summary of Mueller's report, writing that Mueller had found insufficient evidence to prove that Trump conspired with the Russians during the 2016 election. For folks who had hoped that the Mueller report would result in Trump's impeachment, it was heartbreaking. For Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, however, the Mueller report was more than that. It was a wake-up call. "Foreign influence" wasn't the only reason Trump got elected, Ocasio-Cortez claimed in response to a tweet by George Takei. Russia was successful precisely because they played on "national wounds that we refuse to address." This is the REAL conversation we need to have as a

Far-left AOC, Pressley push back against Dem leaders' bid to shield incumbents from primary challengers

Image
Ocasio-Cortez and Pressley, both insurgents who ousted entrenched members of their own party, criticized a recently disclosed policy by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) to blacklist political firms that agree to work against sitting members of Congress, calling the policy "harmful to the party." “The @DCCC’s new rule to blacklist+boycott anyone who does business w/ primary challengers is extremely divisive & harmful to the party," Ocasio-Cortez, who unseated 10-term incumbent Joe Crowley, tweeted Saturday. The @DCCC ’s new rule to blacklist+boycott anyone who does business w/ primary challengers is extremely divisive & harmful to the party. My recommendation, if you’re a small-dollar donor: pause your donations to DCCC & give directly to swing candidates instead. Ocasio-Cortez rips McConnell for Green New Deal vote: 'He doesn't want to save our planet'

Image
Speaking to Vox reporter Ella Nilsen, Ocasio-Cortez accused McConnell of rushing a vote and not wanting to take action against climate change "because he thinks we can drink oil in 30 years when all our water is poisoned. “What McConnell’s doing is that he’s trying to rush this bill to the floor without a hearing... without working through committee -- because he doesn’t want to save our planet. Because he thinks we can drink oil in 30 years when all our water is poisoned,” she reportedly said. In a tweet on Monday, McConnell seemingly addressed accusations that he was manipulating the vote to divide Democrats. “I could not be more glad that the American people will have the opportunity to learn precisely where each one of their senators stand on the ‘Green New Deal’: a radical, top-down, socialist makeover of the entire U.S. economy," he wrote. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tossed another childish temper tantrum today, this time while speaking in Congress. Watch b

Ocasio-Cortez girlls Mike Lee: ‘If this guy can be Senator, you can do anything’

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted in response to a screenshot of the Republican Utah lawmaker while he spoke on the Senate floor. Like many other women + working people, I occasionally suffer from impostor syndrome: those small moments, especially on hard days, where you wonder if the haters are right. But then they do things like this to clear it right up. If this guy can be Senator, you can do anything. https://t.co/vU4ChbTnnr — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) March 26, 2019 The  tweet   she responded to showed a photo of Lee smiling as he stood beside a large poster of several babies. It also quoted some of his remarks before yielding his time. "The solution to climate change is not this unserious resolution...the solution to so many of our problems at all times and in all places is to fall in love, get married, and have some kids." - @SenMikeLee on @AOC and @SenMarkey 's Green New Deal This is a real quote. pic.twitter.com/fbMzgwUMxA — Waleed S

The tweet included a previous CSPAN post of a five-minute clip taken as the New York Democrat was questioning James W. Carroll, the White House director of drug policy. The tweet included the caption: “@AOC compares #OpioidCrisis to #SouthernBorder: ‘So, we've got two emergencies, one is treated with an actual action and the other is just to raise awareness.’” 💰Amount President Trump has transferred from other agencies to fund his ‘Build the Wall’ Emergency: $10s of millions, & has identified billions more. 💰 Amount he’s transferred to address the Opioid National Emergency: $0 https://t.co/KamONSr67q — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says 'Capitalism is irredeemable'

Image
During her talk, which reportedly drew the largest crowds at the popular Austin festival, Ocasio-Cortez slammed capitalism. "Capitalism is an ideology of capital — the most important thing is the concentration of capital and to seek and maximize profit,” Ocasio-Cortez said. "And that comes at any cost to people and to the environment, she said, according to Bloomberg News, “so to me capitalism is irredeemable." Although the self-described Democratic socialist stopped short of saying capitalism should be scrapped altogether, she explained that "we're reckoning with the consequences of putting profit above everything else in society. And what that means is people can't afford to live. For me, it's a question of priorities and right now I don't think our model is sustainable." Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just keeps getting stronger by saying the abjectly stupid crap that Democrats actually believe but have been too shy to admi

Ocasio-Cortez attended Sanders’ rally in Brooklyn on Saturday: “I did not. Yesterday was my day to take care of myself.”

“Um, he, he didn’t, actually,” Ocasio-Cortez responded. “I think that, we’ve been, uh, so we’ve been in active conversation, I’ve been speaking with him and several other of the 2020 (presidential) candidates.”

Saikat Chakrabarti ran MILLION dollar slush fund using campaign cash!

Image
New York. Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Saikat Chakrabarti, the progressive firebrand's multimillionaire chief of staff, apparently violated campaign finance law by working to funnel nearly $1 million in contributions from political action committees Chakrabarti established to private companies that he also controlled, according to an explosive complaint filed Monday with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) and obtained by Fox News. The filing asserts that Chakrabarti established two political action commitees, the Brand New Congress PAC and Justice Democrats PAC, and then systematically transfered more than $885,000 in contributions received by those PACs to the Brand New Congress LLC -- a company that, unlike the PACs, is exempt from reporting all of its expenditures over $200. The PACs claimed the payments were for "strategic consulting." It looks like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s chief of staff could be in some hot water pretty soon if this FEC complaint
